Free digitizing

Free embroidery digitizing, compared honestly

“Free” in embroidery software often means a trial, a watermark or a tiny size limit. Here is what you actually get from InstaEmbroid's free plan and the other free options.

As listed on each maker's site in October 2026.

Free isn't free if the stitch-out fails

A failed sew-out costs fabric, stabilizer, thread and an hour of machine time. Whatever tool you use, preview the stitches first. InstaEmbroid's Watch it sew shows every stitch in order, with the stitch count and your machine's limits, before you download.

Questions

Is InstaEmbroid really free?

The Free plan costs nothing and never expires: unlimited previews and 3 downloads a week. Paid plans add more downloads, every setting and the AI photo tools.

Is Ink/Stitch good?

Ink/Stitch is excellent free software if you're happy to learn Inkscape and digitize by hand. It doesn't turn a picture into stitches in one click.
