How it works
- Add your picture Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP or GIF. Bold, flat colours and clear outlines stitch best, and a PNG with a transparent background leaves the background unstitched.
- Pick your machine and hoop Choose your machine and hoop and the design is sized to fit, with its stitch speed and format set.
- Match real threads Every colour is matched to a real spool from your thread brand, with its number. Change any of them.
- Preview and download Watch every stitch sew out on screen, then download the .XXX and copy it to your machine.
What is a XXX file?
XXX is Singer's embroidery format. Singer Futura and other Singer embroidery machines read it; newer Legacy and SE models also read PES.
XXX stores a colour for every thread, so the machine shows the colours the studio picked.
Tips
- If your Singer reads PES as well, either file works. Pick your model in the studio to see what it takes.
- Singer 10x6 in hoops sew up to 260 x 150 mm; turn the design sideways in the studio if it's tall.
- Photos have thousands of shades, so they come out simplified and poster-like. Cartoons, logos and drawings give the cleanest results.

Can I convert a JPG to XXX for free?
Yes. Previews are free and unlimited, and the Free plan includes 3 downloads a week in every format, XXX included. New accounts also get every feature free for their first week.
Can I convert a PNG to XXX too?
Yes. The studio takes JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP or GIF pictures. A PNG with a transparent background is ideal: the background isn't stitched.
Which Singer machines read XXX?
Singer's embroidery machines, including the Futura series and the SE and Legacy combos. Newer models also open PES.
Do I need Singer's software?
No. InstaEmbroid writes the XXX file in your browser; copy it to your machine the usual way.
